Well, the world has changed.  Now more than 90% of all resumes are submitted on line (Right there is the number one change!) where they automatically go into an – Applicant Tracking System aka ATS.  The  most important necessities on that resume are the industry related key buzz words and the context in which they are used.  They are going to aide in a higher scoring of your resume when scanned by the ATS.  Next is a great format and presentation.  If you want to get the best possible results, incorporate all of these in addition to adding a dash of conservative color to help your resume stand out and be remembered without being over the top.  I always tell my customers that the packaging is as important as the goodies inside.  No one wants to buy a diamond ring in a brown paper bag.  Wrap it up in a beautiful box with ribbons and bows and you have a winner!

Let’s not forget that the introduction to a great resume is a great cover letter.  Just as important, and perhaps even a bit more so.  The cover letter should be personalized for each application and should include two to three strong bullet points from the resume, albeit, phrased differently and should match the color, format and style of the resume. 

All of these changes will give you the results needed to further your career pursuits.  So out with the old and in with todays resumes!
